3 wheeler pram or 4 wheeler pram? This is one of the big pram questions when choosing a pram. There is a difference between 3 wheeler prams and 4 wheeler prams, but with so many prams to choose from, I thought I would help you decide whether a 3 wheeler pram is the right pram for you and your family.

3 wheeler prams were first designed for active parents, making the 3 wheeler pram ideal for jogging, or long walks with great suspension and sturdy big wheels that easily manouvered. The 3 wheeler pram was also designed so both parents, mums and dads felt comfortable pushing the pram, higher handles and sporty looking 3 wheeler prams were the pram of choice for many dads especially. 3 wheeler prams are still very popular, especially as across the years the 3 wheel pram designs have made the prams lighter and easier to manouver, still making them ideal for parents who want to run and exercise with their prams.

My husband and I chose a 3 wheeler pram for our first pram, not because either of us jog, but I do like keeping fit walking and going to the gym, so I was keen to get out walking with my new baby, and the 3 wheeler pram had everything we were looking for. My 3 wheeler pram had good suspension and big sturdy wheels, it had a full recline layback seat and also came with a bassinet option. My 3 wheeler pram had a good shade, newborn paddings and inserts and came with all the bells and whistles. My 3 wheeler pram has survived my two children, including adding the toddler seat which was great. I could still easily push my 3 wheeler pram with my 4 year old and my 2 year old toddler in the pram, and a bike on top of it (when my 4 year old got tired 5 minutes into the walk!). My 3 wheeler pram has not only been fantastic for walking, but it has been great for many trips to the beach, the 3 wheel pram can easily be pulled through the sand. Overall my 3 wheeler pram is still being used and is in fantastic condition through many years of wear and tear.

Use our fabulous pram chooser to help you choose a 3 wheeler pram, it definitely makes deciding on a pram a little easier.

Dolls Prams

I love a doll pram, not for me, a doll pram for my daughter. Saying that, I have adored looking and buying my little princess a doll pram, and shamefully she has more than one! Doll prams are just so gorgeous, they are just like my pram, or the pram I have always dreamed of, just smaller, a doll pram for a doll! (I just have to keep reminding myself it is a doll pram and not for a new baby!)

I may be re living my childhood with my doll pram obsession, it’s simply the fact I can’t believe how fabulous a pram for a doll can be! Ok, the first one I bought was a beautiful wicker doll pram that not only is a stunning dolls pram but also looks beautiful in my daughter’s room filled with dolls. The second was a 3-wheeler doll pram, just like my pram, only pink! The third doll pram (now I’m starting to be embarrassed) was a stroller, again just like mine, only pink. And the fourth doll pram was bought by my mum (phew that’s a relief) and is a very groovy designer double doll pram.

Having so many doll prams has been a total saviour at my house. With four doll prams, it means no tantrums when friends, cousins, siblings, neighbors come over to play, there are enough doll prams to go around. Saying that, children always want to play with the same doll pram, but at least when there are a few doll prams to choose from, there is a guaranteed few hours of happiness!

Choosing a doll pram isn’t easy with so many wonderful choices, but first it should be down to budget, how much you want to spend on a doll pram. Second, the doll pram needs to be suitable to the age of the child, and third, the doll pram should be a pram you know your child will love and adore and will be sturdy enough to handle lots of teddies and toys and lots and lots of bumps!

Enjoy doll pram shopping, just writing about it has made me twitch with the need to shop for another doll pram, my daughters birthday is in September!!

Have you got a doll pram you love?

Double Pram Dilemna – One child can keep your hands full, so what do you do when you have two? Double prams was the answer I was looking for, but would you believe I first tried to manage two prams at once, not being able to go anywhere without a friend pushing the second pram. Thankfully, I discovered double prams before I went crazy.

Double Pram Option 1 – Side by Side Prams
Together with my side-by-side double pram, I have toured the mall, enjoyed nature trails and navigated neighbourhood sidewalks. My children loved being side by side in their double pram, they entertained each other, as well as annoyed each other, yes double pram equals double trouble. The side by side double pram is great because both children can see where they are going in the double pram, they are both open to the elements and everything around them which helps them stay entertained in the double pram. The width of the side by side double pram can make navigation difficult at times, squeezing around shops and busy places can be hard, but both children like being next to each other.

I like the way my side-by-side double pram can easily recline to help make my children comfortable, but when one child is sleeping, a side by side double pram means the other child can wake the sleeping baby or child. Of course, I personally prefer the side-by-side double pram. Other people choose tandem-style double prams for good reasons of their own.

Double Prams Option 2 – Tandem Prams

Going through narrow doorways or walking along narrow sidewalks with my side by side double pram can sometimes become difficult when taking my children on an outing. When this happens, I shoot an envious stare at moms who have tandem double prams that can easily fit through tight spaces. Tandem double prams have the children ride one in the front of the other, so the width stays about the same as a single pram. Most of the time with a tandem double pram, the younger of the two would go up front so the older can have a good view. Parents can easily steer tandem double prams, something that is difficult for people like me who have chosen the wider, harder to steer side-by-side double pram models.

Tandem double prams tend to help with the pinching, poking and fighting between children. In my side-by-side double pram, I’m constantly trying to stop my two from waking, poking or slapping each other. The tandem double pram arrangement makes reaching for each other difficult, so busy moms can have more peace while taking their children around town. That is until the children start fighting over who goes in the front seat of the tandem double pram!

Do you have a preference for which double pram you use?

My stroller is always with me, in the car, when I travel, basically wherever I go, my stroller comes too – well that’s anywhere with my children! I love my stroller because it’s quick and easy for shopping. I whip out the stroller with one hand, flick it open, and strap in the kids, my stroller is small and light, so it whips round the shops and supermarket like a speedy racecar! Strollers are great for busy places, schools, concerts and outings as you keep children safe and secure in a stroller whilst being able to negotiate crowds and stairs with ease.

Strollers are great for travel, whether it’s on the bus, train or plane, a stroller can quickly be folded up and down, and a stroller is light to carry. A stroller doesn’t take up much room, it weighs hardly anything, making a stroller a happy travel companion for everyone – especially airline staff, bus drivers, and fellow train passengers!

If you’re buying a stroller, it’s a great idea to test drive a number of stroller brands, there are so many strollers to choose from. Try the weight of the stroller, make sure it’s easy and quick to open and close, light and nifty to manouver, and good quality all over to last (I went through a few cheap strollers, then invested in a fabulous well known brand stroller that has lasted me through 2 children, many planes, many cars, many stroller journeys!)

What I love about my stroller

It’s super light.

I can open and close it with one hand.

Folds up neat and compact – great for small boots and storing behind doors.

Washable fabric – easy to clean.

5-point harness to keep my babies safe and secure.

Foot operated brakes.

Sun & Water proof hood.

It lies back so my children could sleep.

Great little wheels that never locked or got stuck, making it superb to manouver.

Nice comfy tall handles making it a dream for all to push.

Get your pram ready for the cold! Prams in winter, need pram covers of all sorts, rain covers, pram blankets, pram foot muffs, pram cocoons, any sort of pram cover to protect your babies and children in their pram from the elements of winter. Heated pram handles would be nice for mummy too!

My pram and I have battled many a rainy, winters day, and lucky for me my pram has a fantastic thick rain pram cover, that not only protects my children and pram from the rain, but the icy winds too. If only I could of crawled in to the nice snug pram with my babies some Melbourne mornings, when the wind had blown my umbrella inside out, my nose and toes frozen, and inside my pram, babies with warm pink cheeks smiling back at me, warmed my heart, but not my toes!!!

If you’re pram shopping, or need to update your pram for winter, consider buying the extra pram accessories, like rain covers and sun covers and even the pram foot muffs and cocoons, as these have been essential items with my pram, especially if you live in a cold state. Some prams include these accessories, and with some prams you have the option of purchasing the rain covers and pram foot muffs and cocoons from other brands, that will still fit your pram nicely even if isn’t the same pram brand.

Once your sorted with your pram covers, I found it handy to stock my pram with warm wooly, gloves, hats and blankets, for the kids and me! If you walk your pram to the park in winter, I also recommend packing a towel in your pram – this is really handy to wipe down swings and slides, so you don’t end up with soaking bums and freezing kids!

Winter walks with my kids in the pram are one of my favourite things to do, we collect all the beautiful autumn leaves, and jump in puddles (the kids not me!) and with a pram loaded with all the right stuff, it’s a perfect winter treat!

… heated pram handles would definitely be nice!

Do you have a snuggly winter pram cover?

My pram wheeled away before my eyes with my baby niece in it that I was meant to be taking care of!! Prams can gather speed on a tiny hill, and before you know it your pram with your baby or child in it, are in terrible danger – I say this from experience, I’m not proud of it, I am actually very lucky that I have been able to quickly catch my pram before it has wheeled itself into trouble.

My latest pram wheeling off was due to me chatting (I love to chat!) with a neighbour, leaving my daughter in charge of pushing the pram right next to me, I stupidly didn’t put the brake on, and although my pram with my baby niece in it and my daughter were right next to me, my pram started to roll slowly away.

It was seconds, and I grabbed hold of the pram before it gathered up speed, but it made me realise how quickly a pram could roll away, maybe onto a road and in front of a car, not to mention the miracles we have seen with prams being saved from the path of a high speed train.

So speaking from experience, make putting your pram brake on a constant habit, no matter what you are doing, reaching for your phone, paying for something…it only takes a couple of seconds for a pram to wheel to danger.

Has your pram wheeled away from you?

So whether you are expecting twins, or adding to your brood, you may be looking at double pram and toddler seat options.

Your first pram choice is deciding on a side by side pram, or tandem prams. I loved my tandem pram for when I had a sleeping baby, my toddler could be strapped into his seat at the front of the pram and couldn’t turn around and wake and poke the baby. A side by side pram allows siblings to play, but also to wake, pinch, fight…. you get the picture.

When my terrors got a bit older, I found a skateboard at the back of the stroller to be great, for a while anyway until they both wanted to ride it and not sit in the pram at all!

There are many pram options to look at, from double strollers to sporty tandem 3 wheelers, the main pram decision you should look at, is keeping you and your children happy and safe whilst being able to get around with ease. Check out our fantastic pram chooser to help make deciding a little easier.

If your pram is starting to not look like it’s beautiful pram self, dried up bits of banana and yogurt on the pram straps, vegemite and cheese encrusted on to the pram seat, not to mention bits of rusk and sandwich squashed into every little pram nook and cranny – you’re not alone. My beautiful pram needed a daily spin in a hard core car wash, once my babies started eating food – when my mum refused to push my ‘revolting’ pram because it was so grubby, I knew it was time to take action. Usually know for my OCD cleaning habits, my pram overwhelmed me, but after a few ring arounds to trusted girlfriend mummies – it was time to set up a pram wash OUTSIDE.

Choose a sunny day and wash pram in the morning so it has time to dry.

Use dishwashing liquid and warm water with a scourer to scrub pram.

Avoid harsh chemical cleaners as these may fade your prams fabric.

Wipe pram clean with a wet cloth dipped in warm water to rinse any soapy residue.

Then enjoy looking at your beautiful, clean, sparkling pram for a moment before your little one turns your perfect pram into their little food grotto all over again!!

Happy Easter to you all – enjoy cleaning all that lovely melted chocolate!
